A couple of weeks ago I began to prepare for changes to The Second Sun that I mentioned in my last posting, changes as in replacing the system that is showing that we need to upgrade, so I have been checking on some CMS (Content Management System) to replace it with.

There are many problems with doing such an operation, we had a major failure during an update of the forum software during its RC (Release Candidate) versions, think this was version RC4 to RC5, which crashed during the update sequence and I was the one handling the update, what went wrong is still a mystery to me cause it hadnt failed on any other site i updated it on, the end result was a backup of the database I made for safety and old files, however something was still wrong as almost all accounts on the forum had there passwords broken.

After the next RC update was available I hoped that it would fix some of the problems that the previous caused, that is about the same time I noticed that the forum stated that the Database version was RC6, but the admin panel said the forum was RC5…, yeah I was suprised, did like standard saved backups and uploaded the new patch, running the new patch the database was updated without problem however when i uploaded the updated files the forum went over to a white screen, so yeah I used the backups to role back and it worked, however even though i roled back the database it was now saying that its database was RC7…. and no update after this went any good at all.

I am hoping that a new CMS will fix it totaly, but problem with the user accounts and the forum remains as there is no 100% way to convert the forums and accounts without problems…

Thy morning…

I have been thinking lately about how my sleeping affects me and how i try to stay awake and a bit more alert in the day, this morning I did something that at least made me feel more awake, Started the morning with a ice-cold Monster Energy – Ripper with breakfast, and a B-50 vitamin pill during lunch so I stay awake.

Seems that the combination works, at least so far it has worked, more on this some other time prehaps.

November Releases

This November in accordance to most media I have read and heard the following games are on my Pre-Order List for this month, Due to the agoraphobia I mostly stay inside and playing games is somewhat of a hobby these days rather then a time passing tool or addiction.

The Second Sun

For the last 3½ years I have been the Head Community Manager for The Second Sun an MMORPG Player Association, it has been a rough ride now and then, but also a rewarding experience to solve problems and battling spam robots.

The Second Sun as an idea started some time in the end of summer in 2005 with a discussion amongst the now founders of The Second Sun an MMORPG Player Association in the MMORPG Star Wars Galaxies where we were all members of the guild DeSun, Some time prior of this event a part of the guild had moved on to World of Warcraft and in discussion we came up with the idea to make a sort of place where we could combine and communicate with our friends no matter game, thus The Second Sun was founded, and in start of 2006 me and fellow guild member Akotha bought the domain thesecondsun.org.

These days we no longer play Star Wars Galaxies where everything started due to SOE’s reforming the game with the NGE Publish of the game, I no longer see it fit to complain on SOE destroying the game for many veteran (and paying) players, I have described this so many times I no longer see any good reason to give them the pleasure of being trashed by me anymore.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me, yeah, it will be my birthday this Wednesday the 21st of October and its the 26th one, 26… feels like it was just yesterday I turned 20, time runs away with you and so does the things you thought you would have done by this time when you were younger.

I imagined it all, being married, having a great job, being a good father and pretty much such, some of you might see the list in front of you of things you thought you would have done by now, short to say nothing of them has happend but it does not mean I have given it up, it will just take longer to achieve them.

In truth most give up such dreams from the childhood when they get older and might not remember that list until later in life like myself.

~My mind has gone and I shall follow~

Television and volume control

I find it strange that volume vary so much from programs to commercials, for example, I am watching CSI – New York on TV with pretty much standard volume, then there is a commercial and they are booming out of the television at such that i have to go down something like 4-6 bars to get it to normal volume level and of course when the show is back on you have to pull up the volume again… it’s like this on most channels exception for SVT 1 and SVT2 which are public access channels.

Now being a techie kind of person I belive there would be a normalizer taking care of the volume, but apparently it dosen’t..

I don’t know, I think it would be more logical to have commercials and shows on the same volume level, what is the problem?, I ask as I have no knowledge of such things.

I wonder what you the read think about the things I write about, do you have any questions or suggestion on topics that would be intresting.
